Fiona Talks on the Berlinale Industry Days

Like the IFFR the other day, Berlinale is also organizing two separate events this year. The first part will take place from March 1 to 5 and will focus mainly on the industry program. Besides, during this week, the International Jury of Berlinale will announce the prize winners of a Golden Bear, but the award ceremony will be held during the second part.

Part two, the Berlinale Summer Special, will take place from June 9 to 20 and will be open to the general public. Hopefully in cinemas throughout Berlin and with all filmmakers present.

In this article, we briefly outline the most interesting parts of Berlinale’s industry program. Finally, we invite you to participate in our online Fiona Talks.

1. Berlinale online industry program

Their 71st edition will kick off with a completely online program full of industry events, such as the European Film Market, Berlinale Co-Production Market, Berlinale Talents, and World Cinema Fund. Some selected parts of Berlinale Talents and World Cinema Fund will also be open to the public.

European Film Market

The program of the European Film Market includes online screenings, talks, virtual Q&A via chat, presentations, one-on-ones, round table sessions, and even yoga sessions. Last but not least, the EFM will organize informal online meetings to meet up with old friends and to meet new ones. The full program will be announced in mid-February, so stay tuned on their website.

Berlinale Co-Production Market

As part of the EFM, the Co-Production Market will stage 8 to 10 projects that are looking for co-production and financing partners. On March 2, Co-Pro Series Pitch will be the place to watch all project pitches – followed by a networking event to get in touch with the makers. The projects, involving drama series, are soon to be presented on the Co-Pro website.

Berlinale Talents

The Berlinale Talents has become its own festival within the large film festival of Berlinale. This is the place where film professionals and cinema lovers meet. Their program features talks, workshops, networking events, and screenings. The official Berlinale Talents program is to be announced soon.

2. Fiona Virtual Talks during Berlinale

From March 1 to 5, we will host daily Fiona Talks. Every day from 2 – 3 p.m. (CET), you can virtually knock on our door to have a chat with us. We like to share our expert knowledge about topics like:
